Director, West Texas Therapy
Gary Gray, PT is the Director of West Texas Therapy, the out-patient rehabilitation facility of Midland Memorial Hospital. West Texas Therapy was formed in October 2012 as the result a merger between MMH and Gray’s private physical therapy practice, and offers physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Gary is a 1986 graduate of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School at Dallas.
He is a long-standing member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA), receiving its State Government Leadership Award in 1999. As a member of the Texas Physical Therapy Association (TPTA), Gray was Chair of the Government Affairs Committee from 1993-1999, and recipient of the 1997 TPTA Jeanette Winfree Award for outstanding contributions to the profession, and the 1997 TPTA Warren C. Smith Award for outstanding service in private practice. Gray currently serves as the Chairman of the Texas State Board of Physical Therapy Examiners, initially appointed by Texas Governor Rick Perry in 2006 and reappointed in 2011.
Locally, Gray is an alumnus of Leadership Midland and has participated on committees for the United Way and the American Cancer Society. He has also served, or currently serves in advisory positions for the Odessa College Physical Therapist Assistant Program, the Permian Basin Tech Prep Consortium Health Careers Committee, the Texas Tech Health Science Center of the Permian Basin, and the Midland Children’s Rehabilitation Center. Gray has also been a member of the Board of Directors for Green Tree Country Club. He and his wife, Donna, have six daughters and eight grandchildren, and are actively involved in their church, Stonegate Fellowship. In addition to spending time with his family, he enjoys golf, hunting and fishing.
