Total Elbow Replacement
The elbow is a hinge joint made up of 3 bones, the humerus, ulna, and radius. Treatment of elbow pain may be recommended if you have arthritis in the elbow, are unable work, sleep or enjoy physical activities due to the pain.
These symptoms may also be accompanied by swelling and stiffness, instability or weakness or restricted motion of the elbow.
The Total Joint Center offers treatment options for elbow pain which include conservative treatments such as physical therapy, medication and injections. If conservative options fail as a treatment for the pain, a total elbow replacement may be recommended as a treatment option.
Total Elbow Replacement is a surgical procedure in which the damaged bone of the humerus and ulna are cut away and replaced with a metal prosthesis. The different types of prosthesis options will be discussed between you and your surgeon if surgery is decided upon as a treatment option.
