Mission
Midland Memorial Hospital’s Volunteer Auxiliary Department has origins that are deeply rooted in the Midland Community and dates back to January 1950. The organization’s main purpose is to provide volunteer assistance for non-professional tasks within the hospital. Another component of this invaluable department is the funding, they provide to Midland Memorial Hospital, for the purchase of medical equipment. Our exceptional volunteers have contributed over $20 million in equipment and volunteer hours (calculated at minimum wage).
Volunteers are required to attend orientation and annual education updates, wear uniforms, pay $7 for annual dues, and attend five general meetings per year. Orientation for new volunteers are held monthly.
There are currently 125 adult members who dedicate a minimum of four hours, once a week, in 15 different areas in the hospital.
Service award pins are presented for donated service. A pin represents the first 100 hours. Thereafter, bars are given to represent each 500-hour increment of time.
The Auxiliary elects five officers each year for a leadership team that meets on a monthly basis. This team, along with chairmen from various departments within Auxiliary, comprises the Executive Board, which is responsible for decision making for the Auxiliary Department.
