Illinois Construction Is Complete

Posted On: 7/17/2014

After several months of construction, Midland Memorial Hospital announces the opening of its new southern parking area on Illinois Avenue, just south of the previous main entrance. Before now, the area was a circle drive and did not contain any parking.

Now, the area contains 27 patient parking spaces (8 handicap, 19 regular), wheelchair-accessible ramps, new lighting and landscaping. The entrance allows for more convenient access to services on the south side of the hospital, including the Wound Management Center, Surgery Center, Endoscopy and Outpatient Treatment Center, Midland Memorial Heart Institute and the Midland Community Health Services Women's Clinic, which also underwent a renovation in mid-July.

Parking at this entrance is intended to serve the outpatient services located on the south side of the campus.

Landscaping improvements include low flow irrigation, use of crushed granite and river rock and more drought-tolerant plants. The entire project was designed to make the patient experience more pleasant and efficient.

This southern entrance is scheduled to close at 10:00 p.m. each day, as do all other entrances into the hospital, other than the emergency department, which is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
