Medical Explorers
Midland Health offers a Medical Exploring program for young women and men ages 14-18. Midland Health Medical Explorer Post 1950 started in 2023. The program runs year-round with typically two meetings per month.
What is Medical Exploring?
- Educational healthcare careers activities.
- Exposing youth to health careers that could be considered after high school.
- Prepare young adults for transition from school to work.
- Help young women and men determine their educational path.
What do we do in the program?
- Visit several hospital departments for overviews, demonstrations and hands-on learning experiences in a variety healthcare careers.
- Explore careers in areas such as Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, Rehabilitation Services, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Physician Specialties and more…
What is the cost of the program?
- The Medical Explorers program is sponsored by Midland Health. The students will have no out of pocket cost to participate in the program.
How do I sign up?
All forms must be signed by a parent or guardian. Please bring completed forms below to your first meeting:
When do the Explorers meet?
- Medical Explorer Post meetings are held on Sunday afternoon’s starting at 2:00 pm in the Private Dining Room at the Midland Memorial Hospital Main Campus, unless a location change is noted on the meeting schedule.

Exploring is a nationally recognized program that is a branch of the Scouts, BSA. The purpose of the Medical Exploring program is to provide experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults. The Midland Health Medical Exploring Program is designed to create a unique, hands-on structure that provides learning activities for the participants’ special interests and help guide them to a future career in the healthcare field.
