Midland Health pilots no cost community tobacco cessation
Posted On: 10/1/2021
Midland Health, the Lifestyle Medicine Center and Pivot are partnering to provide a community-specific tobacco cessation pilot program. Upon completion of the pilot, a program evaluation will determine the continuation of the program.
Midland County has a higher rate of smoking (19.3%) than the average in the state of Texas (16.5%) and a slightly higher rate of all tobacco use than the state average.
Pivot is a self-paced program that helps people quit tobacco products with the proven technology of the SmartSensor, the Pivot App, Nicotine Replacement Therapy, and a support community. The SmartSensor and Pivot App increases motivation while tracking the progress of carbon monoxide levels through a breath sensor and provides personalized recommendations and activities.
Pivot is one action Midland Health is taking to help decrease the rate of tobacco use in Midland County and to encourage a healthy lifestyle.
The Pivot program is free to the community, but spots are limited.
