Midland Memorial Hospital Laboratory Selects New System
Posted On: 2/3/2016
The Midland Memorial Hospital
Laboratory Blood Bank has selected the
fully automated Grifols Erytra system to
more efficiently perform the testing
necessary to provide blood products for
a patient by decreasing both the time
and the variability inherent in manual or
semi-automated test methods. The
Blood Bank tests the patient’s blood to
determine their blood type and to
identify possible incompatibilities,
including unexpected antibodies that
could cause the patient to suffer rare,
but serious immune system reactions.
The Grifols Erytra system’s full
automation, with its ability to handle
continuous loading and prioritized
“STAT” testing, direct communication of
results to the Midland Memorial Hospital
Blood Bank information system and
clear, high-resolution digital read-outs
all combine to improve laboratory
efficiency and reduce the incidence of
potential human error that could result
from manual handling, manual
transcription of results, or visual (vs.
digital) assessment and interpretation of
the tests.
