Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Southwest and Midland Memorial Hospital (MMH) are excited to celebrate 2 years of the Ronald McDonald Family Room at MMH. To celebrate, there will be a ribbon cutting on Wednesday, November 6th at 11:30 am with a reception to immediately follow. The celebration is sponsored by ChampionX.
“RMHC of the Southwest has a vision to create a world where every family has what they need to ensure the best health outcomes for their children. The Ronald McDonald Family Room at MMH is part of how we are working towards that vision. The Family Room provides families a place to rest and regroup while remaining just steps away from their child in the hospital. We are grateful to Midland Memorial Hospital and the Midland community for partnering with us over the past two years and look forward to many more years to come,” said Emmanuel Ramirez, President & CEO of RMHC of the Southwest.
The Ronald McDonald Family Room provides a personal respite inside the hospital for families of children undergoing medical treatment. This room offers many of the comforts of home—a living room, kitchen, and laundry facilities—to help alleviate the anxiety of being in a hospital environment for families while remaining only a heartbeat away from their child. Any family who has a hospitalized child is welcome without charge. Over the past two years, the Family Room at MMH has served over 800 families. The Family Room has also been able to essentially double the hours it is open and serves families 6 days a week thanks to volunteers from the Midland community.
“We are grateful to be celebrating two years of our partnership with Ronald McDonald House Charities and offering this resource to our families at Midland Memorial Hospital,” said Lori Dyess, Director of Women’s and Children’s Services at MMH. “A comfortable place for families to gather close to their child while receiving medical care is irreplaceable.”
The Ronald McDonald Family Room is located on the 4th floor of Midland Memorial Hospital, off the main lobby.
