Midland Health Offers New Childbirth Education Class For Pregnancy After Loss
Although it is not often talked about pregnancy loss is a very common occurrence. This can occur at any point in the pregnancy or even after the birth of a baby. Many times, these women will conceive again within the first two years after their pregnancy loss. Women often do not know how to feel when they are pregnant after a loss. They experience emotions of happiness, worry, anxiety, and grief. These emotions are common; however, many women do not talk about it with their families, friends, or providers.
Midland Memorial Hospital is excited to offer a new prenatal class for women and their partners in the Permian Basin. This two-hour class is specifically designed to assist women and their partners who are currently pregnant but have experienced a previous perinatal loss. The class will discuss conflicting emotions, triggers (things that bring up feelings of sadness and anxiety), birth plans, self-care, grounding techniques, breathing exercises, and mental health resources.
The classes will be available to sign up for on the Midland Health website (www.midlandhealth.org). The class dates for 2024 are: August 26th, October 16th, and December 18th. All classes are from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. If you have any questions about the class, please email childbirtheducation@midlandhealth.org.
